The subject of my diploma work is the influence, that humans have on nature and environment, and the relations between them. Our attitude towards nature is in fact our attitude towards ourselves, as every human being is a part of nature and undergoes its laws. The technique in which I created my works is intaglio. The trees presented on my graphics are the very special ones. They are damaged, cut down, intended to be removed, or transported to a sawmill. Each of them has its own story, that is represented by the mark located on their bark. I preceive those marks as scars, the remainings form an encounter with a human. Their meaing becomes universal, thus it turns into a metaphor of experiencing and living. My project is based on a direct contact with forest and nature, on thoughts and memories connected with it. An important part of the whole work is an experiment, which involved the nature itslef and the processes that occur within the change of seasons. I left the objects made of linoleum, gypsum, clay and metal in special places in the forest, the places that were damaged or affected by humans. The objects were slowly merging into the forest structure. I was obsering this phenomenon througout the whole year, and documented it in four artistic books, named after four seasons of the year. Those books contain photos, maps and short texts, reffering to various stories, my personal thoughts and memories. Each book is presented with a sound postcard, where the voice of my grandmother, talking about her life and work in a forest is recorded.
