biography

Aliaksandr Pravalinski (artistic pseudonym Aleksandr Prowaliński) - diploma in the Lithography Studio (Faculty of Graphic Arts, Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw) – painter, graphic artist, stage designer, lighting director.

In his works and theater projects, he pays special attention to the role of objects and the organization of space using colors that are difficult to place on the color spectrum. His artistic sensibility oscillates between monochromatic planes and the depth obtained thanks to the delamination and superstructure of light research - Prowaliński searches in penumbra, avoids categorical colors, evaluates himself a tone lower – where they are not yet fully articulated and therefore they can go either way. Number of individual exhibitions (2). Number of collective exhibitions (4).

self-commentary

Imagine a black room. On each wall, there are three spotlights: red, blue and green. Simple symbols, their meaning is functional - they are human organs in their anatomical outlines. Their order is random: when separated, they become abstract outlines.

My installation is a story about light: about the changes of colors, light spectra, the overlapping of color shades. It is like a story without content, and at the same time, it seems the most primal story.

Lighting – noticing "something" is the first impulse to philosophical reflection, the first symptom of consciousness.

Under the influence of three basic colors, the colors of the organs on the wall change, and the viewer experiences the spaciousness of light waves: by turning off and on the spotlights, I intend to obtain a kind of light cloud, nebula, or shimmering object in the center of the black room. Is it possible to perceive light and color as unnamed elements? To what limits can the experience of light be brought?
